Photographs from opposite sides of the Atlantic. Different shores, different lives, yet the same instinct to stop, look outward, and imagine what lies beyond. A collection of photographs connected by water, distance, and the quiet moments that make distant places feel strangely familiar.

Before the Ashes

Las Hogueras fascinated me long before
I understood them. At first, I saw fire,
noise, and celebration. Then I realized
the tradition is really about accepting
that even the things we love eventually
disappear. Every monument is built knowing
its destiny from the beginning.
As a photographer, that tension feels
impossible to ignore. These images are my
attempt to hold on to a few moments
from a night designed to let go.

Waiting

Waiting is a universal condition.
At bus stops, train stations,
shorelines and public squares,
people occupy the space between
departure and arrival, certainty
and doubt, presence and absence.
These photographs explore those
suspended moments where nothing
appears to happen, yet something
essential is taking place beneath
the surface.

Ritual and Arena

Every December, the arena of Zapote becomes a stage. Bullfighters, vendors, medics, masked characters and spectators gather around a tradition that has shaped Costa Rican popular culture for generations. At the center of it all are the toreros improvisados—ordinary people who step into the ring and become part of the spectacle. A portrait of the community that keeps the ritual alive.
